Seller Comments
The Plymouth Road Runner is one of the premier icons of the muscle car era. The youthful coupe proposed a new variation on the supercar theme: the econo-racer. The result would be a stripped-down intermediate with a big engine, four-speed manual transmission, and a full set of gauges, all as standard equipment. There was to be no plush trim, non-essential equipment, or gratuitous decoration to drive up the price. The public loved the idea and the Road Runner was an immediate success. This 1970 model in Rally Red features the optional 440 cubic inch V8 outfitted with three two-barrel carburetors pushing the performance to 390 horsepower. Production of this six pack engine option was very limited - only 615 Roadrunner coupes were built this way in 1970 making this a rare bird for sure. All this power is mated to the heavy duty four-speed manual transmission with pistol-grip shifter and Dana 4:10 rear axle. The Road Runner has power steering, power brakes and rolls on factory Mopar Rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas G70-14 tires. In great condition, with a fresh engine rebuild, this classic Mopar muscle car is authentic in every way - right down to the iconic beep-beep horn! This investment grade, numbers-matching Road Runner is ready for show or go!
