Selling my 1954 Buick model 52 Riviera Sedan... I have owned this Buick for 15 years now and have enjoyed it as my Easter through Thanksgiving daily driver for 20,000 miles. At this writing the car accurately shows 59,500 actual miles.
This is the senior bodied Buick (127" wheelbase) shared with the Roadmaster and the Cadillac series 62. It is in absolutely excellent with no mechanical issues to discuss. original 322 vertical valve V-8, 182 Hp, 2bbl carb and Dynaflow automatic drive. This Buick starts instantly and drives as a Buick should, very smooth and powerful. During my ownership it has been treated to a new starter, tune up including new wires and hoses as well as the standard tune up parts, front tires a few years back and rear just last summer. It has also had a complete brake system overhaul, and also last year the rear axle was resealed with new seals and racers. in 2011 approximately 8000 miles ago the Dynaflow was professionally disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with all new seals by Trans Colonial Auto in Chagrin Falls, Ohio... this is a company I have worked with on several of my vintage automobiles over the years,,, their work is impeccable and I trust them unconditionally with any transmission work. Sure the old Buick has a few squeaks and rattles, but again is absolutely dependable. Get in and drive to any corner of the country in safety and with complete confidence, heck if there was a bridge you could drive to Egypt. See, you have already saved any shipping charges, Simply drive it home.
Cosmetically The Buick is in good overall driver condition. Willow Green with a darker green roof ( colors original to the car and match data plate )Patina is in right now and this Buick has it. Looks great and will certainly hold its own at any Wednesday night Cruise in, but honestly is not a Pebble Beach car. It is unique and you will not see another like it at most local shows. Has been touched up here and there over the years but has held up quite well with extremely solid body and floors. Clean dry trunk compartment. Interior is in good condition with no tears in the seats. Front seat was reupholstered some years ago and has held up well. Driver's door panel shows some wear while others are in quite nice condition. All glass is clear and unbroken, all gauges and signals except Temp gauge work accurately, temp gauge never did work. Very nice exterior stainless and overall good chrome. Car is 99% complete missing only the trunk nameplate (never had it) and the right sun visor (broke years ago). All else present and accounted for.
I have enjoyed vintage automobiles from finely restored and beautifully kept originals to driver quality cars for over fifty years now and this Buick has been my absolute favorite daily driver in all that time. That is why I have kept it so long. So then why am I selling it? Ok I have recently found a 1936 Buick Century Touring sedan and only have enough garages for the cars I own. Consequently one has to go and the 1954 was chosen. In other words I am selling due to needing the space.
This will make an excellent tour car, cruise in special, family out for ice cream runner, or just a fun overall daily driver. It would also be the ideal car for someone wanting to get into the hobby with a vintage piece ready to go and enjoy without first having to sort out a number of issues. I have attempted to accurately describe this Buick, She's not perfect but real nice and full of personality. I invite any interested person to contact me and arrange for a showing at their convenience. I may also consider a partial trade of up to $5000 of the asking price to assist an individual who may have serious interest and also have a car to move along. American built cars only please as you would be amused on what I have been asked to take in trade over the years. My name is Bruce I live in Canton, Ohio and you may reach me at 330-806-7587 or firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks!
