Reintroduced in 2011 as a police vehicle in North America, the current Chevrolet Caprice is based on the Australian Holden of the same name and is available only to U.S. and Canadian law enforcement agencies. In addition to the police-spec upgrade the engine has a special tuning package known as PAL which stands for Performance Algorithm Lift foot. When activated the vehicle computer will put the engine and transmission into performance mode to allow the transmission to "understand" the driving conditions and select the appropriate gear through tight turns and provides the required engine torque necessary for performance driving by keeping the RPM's in the sweet spot of the powerband.
