The frame was pressure-washed, wire-wheeled, and sprayed with two coats of POR 15 chassis paint. Next, the vehicle was painted in House Of Kolor base and clear coats with custom Scout graphics hand-painted by local pinstriper Ralph “Real Ralph” Newman, as shown in the photo gallery. Once outlined, the entire body was given three coats of House of Kolor USC01 clear and cut/buffed. The roof was painted with a black base coat, then treated to a “copper penny” coat and clear coated.Is also stripped the 345ci V8 down to the short block, then cleaned, de-greased, primed, and painted it IH Red. The engine was then re-assembled with new gaskets including the head gaskets, a new water pump, and new hoses. A new Holley two-barrel carburetor with electric choke and Pertronix electronic ignition were also fitted before the engine was reinstalled. The cooling system was upgraded with a new aluminum radiator, Derale electric fan, and Ron Francis fan controller. An Optima red-top battery is connected to a hard-wired battery tender. An oil change and ignition system tune-up were performed in November 2019.
