Seller Comments
This car can be found all over Craigs List for $14k to $15k. I am selling this vehicle for only $12,750. I am the second owner of this Ford Explorer Police Interceptor with only 101k miles. The original owner was a Missouri Municipality where the vehicle was regularly maintenanced. The car is in good condition, has All Wheel Drive, steel wheels, A/C is really cold, cruise control, CD player, digital information read out screen, and other options. The transmission shifts nicely, engine is smooth but powerful with a 3.7 Liter V6. The vehicle has no damage whatsoever except a few minor door dings and scratches consistent with its age. Please email me with your interest in this vehicle. The Explorer Police Interceptor has some great features that the standard civilian manufactured vehicle does not have, including but not limited to:
• 75-mph rear crash rating that protects occupants from high-speed rear-end collisions.
• Aluminum hood, magnesium seat frame, and boron A and B pillars. The technology in this vehicle helps absorb the energy of a collision and direct impact forces away from the occupants. Additionally, the Explorer was designed to include several additional safety features including a rear crash test, 30-mph frontal barrier test, and reverse J-turn test.
• The Explorer has a heavy-duty cylinder lock, heavy duty alternator, and door handles with high-strength tethers that reduce stress on hinges of doors that can fly open especially while the vehicle is in motion.
• The Explorer has heavy duty steel wheels. Larger brake rotors include improved lining material.
• The Explorer has an upgraded 220-amp alternator charges a 78-ampere battery with 750 cold-cranking amps.
• The P.I. Utility is powered by a 3.7L base V-6 that makes 304 hp and 279 lb.-ft. of torque.
• The Explorer has intelligent all-wheel drive, with police calibration that operates uniquely for police use and gives the vehicle better traction and acceleration to account for more dynamic driving by officers. Ford calibrates power delivery and transmission shifting differently for each vehicle.
• The Explorer is limited to a top speed of 131 compared to the civilian Explorer is limited to 120 mph.
• The Explorer has helical coil springs, nitrogen gas pressurized shocks and stiffer springs and shocks that reduces body motion and improves handling.
• The P.I. Utility gets a unique cooling system with a larger radiator, additional transmission cooler, engine-oil cooler, a larger grille to provide greater air flow, and a water-cooled all-wheel-drive system.
• Under the cargo load floor, the power distribution lug provides two 50-amp circuits and a ground strap for upfit equipment, and two 12-volt power points in the front row. The Explorer provides four 12-volt power points (two at the first row, one at the second row and one in the cargo area).
• The Explorer from government agencies has Telogis-powered telematics package
