2003 Toyota Matrix For Sale by Owner in Phelan, CA

2003 Toyota Matrix XRS (automatic). Only produced for 1 year with an automatic. 2zzge engine, yamaha head Redline 8,200, 180 hp. The car is fantastic on the freeway and in the canyons. Still gets 29mpg doing 85 mph across 3 states.

The Cons: The car needs repair. Seems to be a timing issue (engine knocks). I happened instantly, not over time. It's not likely a bearing issue.  It went out at home. The paint is pretty bad on the roof and hood. (See photos) The rest of the car is fair. The car has been sitting about 2 years. Broken hinge on the center storage, and broken panel for drivers window buttons. (All windows work). Also a dent in the hood from the hood stand. (Easily fixed).

The pros: The interior is pretty clean, just needs a vacuum and a detail. The first upgrade I did was cross drilled rotors and Hawk racing pads. New control arms dec 2013.  New axles, bearings, and motor mounts Jan 2014. Sway bar bushings replaced with energy suspension urethane in 2016. Transmission shift solenoids replaced May 2016, and added a trans cooler.  Front suspension replaced with KYB kit July 2017. Exhaust manifold replaced with a DC sports header just before the engine issue (like 400 miles before). Filters for the oil pressure lines for the VVTLI system replaced (in attempt to repair). CAI. Hankook Noble S1 tires with possibly 15k left on the stock 17" wheels. Extras include all the original engine mounts and control arms (in case of urethane upgrades), and stock air box. Great car for donor or repair. Possibly a great "lemons" race car.
