1959 Porsche 356 For Sale by Owner in San Francisco, CA

1959 Porsche 356 A 1600 Super Reutter cabriolet is number 219 out of the 944 produced for that year. It was first delivered to Southern California when new and has stayed in the Golden state its entire life. It is non numbers matching with the engine case believed to have been replaced in 1960.

It had received a profeessional full bare metal body restoration approximately 10 years ago with no rust found. The body was straight and damage free with correct gaps throughout. An exterior color change was applied with a fresh coat of silver paint, that was correct for 1959, replacing the factory color of ivory. Currently the paint shows beautifully, with a clear finish and excellent depth. All body panels are ding and dent free with proper gaps throughout.

The interior was fully restored with keeping the factory original color of red in place. Everything in the cabin functions and performs properly including the original Blaupunkt radio. 

In 2016 the current owner who is a well known Bay Area Porsche collector and long time member of the Porsche Club of America, participated in the California Mille and was also featured in Departures magazine. He is also a member of the Porsche 356 registry.

In 2017 Hi Tec Automotive removed and disassembled the engine and after a thorough inspection it was determined that a complete engine rebuild was needed from the crankshaft on up. It also included rebuilding the carburetors, fuel pump and generator. A new clutch and clutch cable were also installed with shifting now being smooth and consistent. The engine starts easily and effortlessly on the first crank with smooth and solid power. Compression is 160 @ # 1 cylinder, 165 @ #2 160 @ #3 and 160 @ #4. The engine compartment is solid, rust free and in excellent condition. 
The entire car was inspected and any items that needed repairs was completed.

This fully restored 1959 356 A 1600 Super cabriolet is an incredible example that is ready to be driven whenever desired or compete in a concourse.
