A common misconception about factory repurchases, or “buybacks”, is that they have a manufacturer’s defect that cannot be corrected.  In most cases, and in the case of those that we purchase for sale to our customers, the concerns have been resolved.  The repurchase by the factory can be for mechanical, or electrical reasons, but also for gestures of “goodwill” to maintain customer satisfaction.  Reasons for this can be something as simple, and benign, as a customer who was unable to properly operate a vehicle’s infotainment system and thus felt it was defective. After the repurchase the manufacturer will either perform, or commission a review of the matter and sometimes find the component(s) to be in full compliance with their standards (i.e. nothing was wrong).
