Are you Attached to your Old Car?

Are you Attached to your Old Car?-Perhaps it’s Time to Let go.

We are creatures of habit-we like to hold on to things like babies hold on to their pacifiers. We are collectors of treasures and we enjoy placing prized items on our selves and in our garages. Some people spend more money on collectibles than any other item they own. Perhaps this doesn’t accurately describe you, but what about that old car you’ve been driving for nearly a decade?  Everyone has a story about their favorite old car and your story is as different as you are which makes it unique in its own right. What are your reasons for holding on to your old car? Perhaps you don’t feel like going to the trouble of looking for another vehicle. Maybe you are attached to your old car and just don’t want to let go. But what if that old heap you’re driving is costing you more than it’s worth with constant repairs and upgrades? Is it really worth your time and money to hold onto your vehicle when you can sell it and get money for your car? You can always take that money and put it towards another car purchase.

Okay so admittedly you are having a rough time saying good-bye to your car. Your car has been more than transportation for you-it has been your best friend. For some people cars are like pets, they are companions that bring joy and contentment to a person’s life. A person will spend money and time taking care of that vehicle as it proudly takes its space in the garage or underneath a carport. But if you’re car has been around the block for awhile maybe you should consider selling your old car. If you don’t feel like going through the hassle of selling your car, perhaps you can find someone to sell your car for you. At least that will take the hassle out of you having to sell the car. With the money you’ll get from selling your car you can begin to look for another car.

While parting with your best buddy is sweet sorrow, keep in mind that it won’t be a total loss: you’ll get money from your old car and someone else will have the chance to love it just like you did. Now its time to begin searching for another car. Your thoughts are leaning on buying new car vs buying a used car. These decisions are not easy ones- purchasing a car is the second largest purchase a person can make next to buying a home. That’s if you decide to purchase a new vehicle right off the lot. Perhaps you want to purchase a used vehicle. Keep in mind that it doesn’t need to be an old heap-you can buy a quality used car within your budget. Buying a used car isn’t easy and you’ll need to do your homework, but at least you’re on your way and you have somewhere to begin.
